HISTORY & GEOGRAPHY

 In charge of their Anjou boutique winery created in 1994 in La Pommeraye (Loire Valley), Jean-Christophe Courné-Noléo and Mathias Levron take good care of their 25 ha of Chenin, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Grolleau. 

Considered as one of the closest Anjou boutique wineries to Muscadet area, Musset-Roullier takes great benefit from the oceanic influence that can be perceived for the beautiful freshness of its wines. 

As a geological feature, the winery is expanding on schist and blue limestone soils; these ones provide a superb finesse to the aromas and flavours of the red wines produced.

VITICULTURE & WINEMAKING

 Currently labelled HVE3, the winery is working on getting a biological certification.
 A viticulture close to organic farming is practiced.
 The plots are permanently covered with grass, and organic leguminous and vegetables are planted between the rows to help the ground to maintain a great microbial life. That’s also the reason why the upper part of the soils is worked mechanically: to not damage this precious microbial life with UV. No weed-killers used, no insecticide used; the winery focuses on sexual confusion instead.
 90% of the tasks are still done by hand (short pruning, disbudding, trellising, stripping, harvest). 

Sick crops are replaced with young plants every year (with only selections massales).
 The yields are limited, grapes are handpicked when they’ve reached their peak in terms of maturity, and the winery vinifies all the plots separately. Indigenous yeasts are the only ones selected, no chaptalization considered (ever).
 The emphasis is put on long ageings in stainless steel tanks, concrete tanks, oak barrels, and amphoras.
 Limited amount of sulphites is added, and only for the bottling.

WINES & DISTRIBUTION

Vigneron Indépendant and Propriétaire récoltant, Musset-Roullier produces an extended range of 12 delicious AOC/IGP cuvées (Anjou blanc/rouge, Anjou Villages, Crémant de Loire Vintage, Anjou Coteaux de la Loire…) exported to 10 countries and distributed in +100 wine shops in France. They also remain served at prestigious tables, such as Hôtel Matignon (FR Prime Minister residence) or Pavillon Ledoyen *** (Paris). Wines are recommended and praised by US Masters of Wine (Ian Cauble, Dustin Wilson) 2007 Best Sommelier in The World (Andreas Larsson) or Wine Enthusiast.
