Co-exhibitor of Wines of Alentejo (CVRA)
Adega Herdade das Aldeias de Juromenha is a family-owned agricultural company, which has been operating since 1984 a set of adjacent farms located 15 km from the city of Elvas, next to the Guadiana River overlooking the village of Juromenha, right in the heart of Alentejo. The agricultural holding is diversified, with Montado for Agriculture, Olive and Olive Groves, Almonds, Vineyards and Winery. In 1998, in an area with a great tradition in the art of making wine, the first vineyards were planted, in Monte dos Outeiros, next to Herdade das Aldeias, thus beginning the 1st phase of the project. Planting at this stage, only traditional Portuguese grape varieties: Trincadeira, Aragonês, Antão Vaz, Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Alvarinho and Arinto. In 2001, with the entry into production of these first vineyards, it was necessary to build the winery. A building with straight lines, composed of the torrid tones of the hot Alentejo landscape, with views of the vineyards, the Guadiana River and the village of Juromenha. Currently, the vineyards are in their 8th phase of expansion, accumulating 104 hectares in production, predominantly native Portuguese varieties are planted, and international varieties are also found, namely Syrah, Carbernet Sauvignon, Tannat, Petit Verdot, among others. The wine produced is sold through the brand “Aldeias de Juromenha”, in allusion to the village of Juromenha and the name of one of the “Aldeias” estates, the brand “Forte da Graça” in honor of the Iconic Monument of Elvas with the same name. Today we have around 32 wine references, including whites and reds, sparkling wines, liqueurs and late harvest wines. Currently our honors include more than 50 national and international distinctions, including 30 gold, 18 silver and 12 bronze. The art of wine is an evolving concept, which changes with time and desires, but which also remains, immutable, in its human aspect, excellence.
