The Vignerons de Tursan was founded in 1958 in Geaune, in the southwest of France, within
the Gasgony region. The vineyard area benefits from two recognized and certified quality
appellations, AOP Tursan and IGP Landes, spread across varied terroirs made of grabbles,
tawny sand, and clay-limestone soils.
The cooperative operates as a unified “Grand Domaine”, with a long-standing commitment
to quality and sustainable development. Its mission is to express the originality of the local
terroirs while preserving ancient grape varieties native to the Pyrenean oceanic area
Rooted in a longstanding tradition, Tursan’s vineyards were once
defined by their emblematic white grape varieties, most notably
Baroque and Manseng, thriving under the oceanic climate and
diverse terroirs to deliver fresh, high-character wines.
Market shifts in the 1970s steered the region toward red varietals,
reshaping production for several decades as consumer demand
evolved.
Today, Tursan is strategically returning to its origins by replanting
historic white varieties, our growers reaffirm the region’s authentic
identity and unlock a growing market demand for distinctive,
terroir-driven whites.
In Tursan, ageing wines in sand, whether in barrel or bottle, offers a signature
maturation process found almost nowhere else. The naturally cool, stable conditions of
our sandy cellars create a slow, refined evolution that enhances purity, finesse, and
textural elegance. This unique ageing method elevates both whites and reds,
bringing out deeper aromatics, softened tannins, and remarkable balance.
It is an authentic expression of our terroir and craftsmanship, one that cannot be
replicated outside our region. Choosing Tursan means choosing wines shaped by
nature, tradition, and innovation, delivering distinctiveness and value that stand
out in any portfolio.
