The whim that inspired El Capricho Winery is our family’s dream of sharing our exclusive bottles of the highest quality with other wine lovers around the world.

In his early twenties, Dirk arrives in South America from his native Germany in search of new experiences and falls in love with the land. When he meets Paul, he soon becomes his friend, mentor and family.

Thirty years later, accompanied by his children, Martina and Federico, he finds the perfect place to make his dream come true in Villa del Carmen, Uruguay, known as the “Village of the best bread and wine”.

Seven hectares, out of a total of two hundred, are exclusively dedicated to our sustainable vineyard, enough for the family to bottle their dream and share it with the world.

We believe making wine is a form of art that celebrates the beauty of nature and captures the essence of the land. Using sustainable methods, each of our bottles is crafted to convey our commitment to expressing the richness of our terroir.
