South Africa
Imbuko Wines is situated on the farm Uitkyk, near Wellington, in the heart of the Boland winelands. Co-founder and Managing Director, Theunis van Zyl, has been part of the wine industry for 30 years. Imbuko means “Admiration for…” in Xhosa, which serves as one of South Africa’s eleven official languages and was the native tongue of our most famous citizen, Nelson Mandela.
The company has evolved from its humble roots as a bulk wine supplier to a recognised force supplying a range of wine products and services to the fast-moving wine industry.
The Imbuko office and warehouse are situated on one of the few farms that cultivate rootstock, not only for our own use, but also for a significant portion of the South African wine industry. Thus, the Imbuko portfolio can boast the winemaker's hand from rootstock to the vine and from the vine to the wine.
In order to supplement the complexity of the portfolio, wines are sourced and blended not only from the Wellington farm, but also from the most prominent – and vastly different – wine regions of the Western Cape: Stellenbosch, Paarl, Worcester and Robertson.
This gives Imbuko access to an extensive range of wines, each with its unique style, ensuring continued availability. Imbuko’s dedicated wine-making team ensures that continued consistency is delivered across all our ranges.
For us at Imbuko and in the true spirit of ‘ubunthu, our business is based on developing long relationships with our clients. We are successful because we offer our clients quality, loyalty and integrity and therefore receive the same in return.
