Head of the family estate located in Barbaggio, Marie- Françoise Devichi represents the 6th generation of one of the oldest winemaking families of Corsica. She started working in the vineyard in 2002 to help her father. Both her desire to perpetuate a family tradition and her attachment to land's values drove her to definitely embrace a winegrower career. She eventually took over the management in 2012. First woman to run this 40-hectare vineyard located in the Patrimonio area (Northern Corsica), she did not hesitate to fully commit herself to the handy work in the vineyard and to the promotion of her wines in order to earn the trust of her elders and the consideration of her fellow winemakers. Decided to increase her winery's awareness and leave her trace in its history, Marie-Françoise Devichi also developed her own brand, Mlle D, and created a range of wines which look like her, skillfully combining tradition and modernity. For her range of white, red and rosé wines in AOP Patrimonio, Marie-Françoise Devichi works with the famous indigenous Corsican grapes, Vermentinu and Niellucciu. The vineyard is cultivated according to the tradition and in an environment- friendly approach. Marie-Françoise Devichi is indeed committed to producing the best quality grapes and to maintaining her vineyard in good health because for her such things are essential to produce a high quality wine. In the wine making process, she aims at best expressing the terroir and the millesime effect (use of indigenous yeasts, limited amount of sulfites, aging in steel tanks). That's on the red and rosé wines that Marie-Françoise Devichi best expresses her special touch by producing wines which enhance the fruitiness and roundness of the niellucciu, proving that this grape can give birth to lively, soft-tannins and easily drinkable wines, even after only a few months of aging. If the estate gives much room to indigenous grapes, Marie-Françoise Devichi is also very attached to the family historical grape: Muscat petits grains. A grape which first expresses itself in the wine "Fruttu di sole", a sweet wine in AOP Muscat du Cap Corse which is the result of a 36-month aging and made the winery famous. Always creative, Mlle D decided in 2015 to add a new item to her range by offering her personal vision of sparkling Muscat : the "Pétillant de Muscat petits grains by Mlle D". Not too sweet, both refined and slightly complex, this wine is ideal as a starter, in stand-alone or in cocktail, and also perfectly pairs with different kinds of meals thanks to its vinosity.
