"When tradition is the result of decades of experience and stylistic integrity is a non-negotiable value."
With this philosophy, the Speri family has been crafting one of the most iconic wines of Italian enology for over sixty years: Amarone della Valpolicella Classica.
Although Amarone is a relatively young wine in the history of Valpolicella, Speri was among the first producers to create it. The first bottles date back to the late 1950s, and since then, Amarone Classico Sant’Urbano DOCG has represented the deepest, most identifying soul of the winery.
Speri produces only one Amarone, sourced exclusively from the Sant’Urbano Estate in the municipality of Fumane. The vineyard combines altitude, sun exposure, and mineral-rich soils, elements that give the wine its unmistakable elegance and complexity.
Harvest is strictly manual, with a careful selection of the most scattered and healthy grape clusters, ideal for the long natural drying process. The grapes rest on traditional wood and bamboo racks, called arele, placed in hillside drying rooms where fresh, dry air ensures perfect dehydration—without mold or artificial intervention.
The main drying facility is located at the heart of the estate, at about 300 meters above sea level, a privileged location that guarantees a slow and harmonious raisining process, preserving the aromas and purity of the grapes.
Amarone Sant’Urbano is the result of a rare balance between power and finesse, tradition and production rigor. Every stage—from vineyard selection to extended cellar maturation—is guided by the desire to create a wine that speaks authentically of its territory.
For this reason, Speri does not produce Amarone in less favorable vintages, prioritizing absolute quality over quantity. Additionally, the wine is released at least 12 months after the date required by production regulations, reflecting a philosophy that is patient and respectful of time.
Each bottle of Amarone Classico Sant’Urbano tells the essence of Valpolicella and the dedication of a family that has made stylistic consistency its defining trait.
A wine of great structure, harmony, and longevity, it represents the perfect synthesis of territory, experience, and vision.
