BRICCO CARLINA - Barolo Duo in Grinzane Cavour
&
CAMILLA SCAVINO - Barolo girl
Three siblings… Filippo, Laura and Federica decide to collect everything that has been handed down to them by their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents: respect for the land, that of the Langhe, love for a job that gives no respite, work of the vineyard in respect of the territory, and they have bottled it for you, so that you can taste it in the right philosophy of life: “Nunc est bibendum, nunc pede libero pulsanda tellus”. (Now one must drink, and with one’s foot strike the earth in freedom – Horace, Odes, I, 37, 1)
The parents had been marketing the grapes since the 1970s, but it was only with the entry of the three brothers into the company in 2009 that full production began, with a large trend towards exports mainly to Europe, the United States and Asia.
From a careful selection of the grapes, the fine wines of the Langa are born, in particular Barolo DOCG, Langhe DOC Nebbiolo, Barbera d ‘Alba DOC ,Dolcetto d’Alba DOC, Langhe DOC Arneis and Langhe DOC Rosato. Since 2014 the cellar has been part of the area that has become a UNESCO heritage site.
Nebbiolo da Barolo vineyards extend between the municipalities of Monforte d’Alba with the Cru San Giovanni and Bricco San Pietro, of Barolo with the Cru Paiagallo and of Novello, with the cru Ravera.
From the 2016 harvest, the wine is obtained with low environmental impact viticultural and oenological techniques.
BCompany founded in 1924 by Bartolomeo Borgogno, great-grandfather of the current owner Alex who, together with his father Dario, vinified the grapes of their vineyards. After 5 generations, in part, the vineyards were renewed while those of the Barolo's nebbioli remained intact and immaculate. Over time, work methods have been updated both in the vineyard and in the cellar, paying careful care to pruning, thinning, harvesting and controlled fermentations.
Today the company produces a total of about circa 20,000 bottles a year. With about two hectares of Nebbiolo da Barolo between the municipalities of Castiglione Falletto with Barolo Altenasso and Barolo Fiasco and the municipality of Barolo with Barolo San Lorenzo up on the Cannubi's hill. The rest of the facilities give us our main DOCs such as Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo and Langhe Rosso.
We turn our greatest attention to our vineyards, we believe that respect for nature is fundamental to our work.
A careful and scrupulous eye in the cellar is essential to maintain intact essence and expression of our territories.
Corino Giovanni is a family business based in La Morra, UNESCO world heritage, in the middle of Langhe.
We're an historical winery and our first traces in Annunziata (hamlet of La Morra) are from 1952, when Celeste, grandfather of the actual owner Giualino, moved with wife and kids to work as a sharecropper. At the time we were a mixed farm and we cultivated vineyards but also other fruits and we were breeding animals as well.
The focus on vineyards came few years later, when Giovanni, son of Celeste, even if most of the grapes were sold and just a small part was vinified for relatives and friends. In the mid of 1980's Giuliano started to work in the farm and bottled the first hectolitres of Barolo.
1987 is a year of change for the winery: we started a new path of winemaking, we kept the tipicity of Barolo but we started making the first selection of the grapes in the vineyard, short maceration with controlled temperature and ageing in small barrels (barriques) aiming at the best possbile quality. Despite that for few years we kept selling a part of the grapes to have money to invest in winery equipment, that was happening until 1995 when we vinified the whole production. From that moment we started to grow thanks to our constant research of quality and will to get better year by year.
Nowadays the winery is run by Giuliano with his wife Stefania and the children Veronica and Andrea. The whole family is involved in the entire production process: from the work in vineyards to the selling, passing through the vnification and winery works.
Our surface of land is 9.5 ha, all in La Morra area, cultivated only with indigenous variety such as Barbera and Nebbiolo with a total production of 50 thousands bottle/year.
Our production filosophy is based on simple principles as respect of nature with a carefull interest on consumer's health and ours since we work vineyards in first hand. Vinification processes happen with the greatest attention on the expression of the terroir since we want to represent in the best way the combination between our land, human and vines.
Deep in the heart of Piedmont, at the foothills of the Cottian Alps near the French border, our story is rooted in a passion that still resonates through our vineyards today.
Founded in 2010 by a family devoted to preserving the authentic expression of its land, L’Autin brings together time-honoured traditions, a modern vision, youthful energy, and a distinctive feminine leadership. Our commitment to organic viticulture and sustainable winemaking shapes every decision — from vineyard to bottle.
Each wine is a tribute to our mountains, our heritage, and the people who continue this journey with dedication and heart.
Based in Montà d’Alba the Pelassa Winery owns vineyards in the Roero Area and in Verduno – Barolo Area. Thanks to consistency in choices, commitment to the job and love and care for details, the Pelassa family captured not only the home market, but also the foreign one, being on the wine list of the best restaurants in Europe, America and Asia. STORY The Pelassa family has always produced wine from the vineyards they owned. The present winery was created in 1960 by Mario, who has been producing and making wine from his vineyards for more than fifty years, with the help of his wife Maria Teresa Viglione. Until 2000 the firm’s market was the north-western part of Italy, now their sons Davide e Daniele have transformed it into a modern and dynamic firm. VINEYARDS The scrupulous job of selection and clonal planning in the new plants and the investments in the winery enhance the quality of our grapes and help us reach our main goal: producing wines with a full correspondence wine-vineyard-terroir. The grapes, harvested by hand are softly pressed and picked from the bunch before fermentation begins at controlled temperature. After the harvest red wines carry out malolactic fermentation and then are stored in wine casks made of wood or steel. White wines are bottled in spring and red wines are bottled in summer. In the last years the firm has concentrated mainly on the cultivation of the three varieties which are the most suitable to the typical soil of the area: Arneis, Nebbiolo and Barbera.
